On October 13, 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom signed
Assembly Bill 218.
This new law gives victims of childhood sex abuse a limited opportunity
to bring claims that would have otherwise been barred by the statute of
limitations.
The new law, which goes into effect January 1, 2020 extends the deadline
to file a lawsuit for childhood sex abuse to three years or January 1, 2023.

religious institutions, school districts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Hollywood,
and the entertainment industry.
